Shots Fired 700-Block William
On July 12, 2026, at about 10:15 p.m., officers with the Cape Girardeau Police
Department responded to the 700-Block of William in reference to shots fired. Officers in
the area heard the shots being fired along with a confirmation from ShotSpotter.
Utilizing ShotSpotter, officers were able to narrow down the area the shots were fired
from. Officers arrived on scene and located evidence of shots being fired. Officers made
contact with a victim that reported seeing a juvenile whom the victim is familiar with,
retrieve a firearm from his waistband and fire at the victim’s vehicle.
Officers attempted to make contact with the juvenile at his residence in the 800-Block of
William. After several attempts to make contact at the residence, a search warrant for
the residence was applied for and granted.
During a search of the residence, officers located the juvenile suspect along with a
firearm suspected to have been used during the incident.
The juvenile suspect was transported and turned over to the Cape Girardeau County
Juvenile Office. No other arrests have been made and no reports of property damage or
injuries were reported.
