1800 – BLOCK BROADWAY FATAL VEHICLE CRASH
On Thursday, January 8, 2026, at approximately 1:26 p.m., officers with the Cape
Girardeau Police Department responded to the 1800 – Block of Broadway for an injury
crash involving a motorcycle and truck.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2019 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was
being driven westbound on Broadway in the inner lane. At the same time, a 2017 F350
utility truck was being driven westbound in the outer lane. The motorcycle attempted to
pass another vehicle, falling on its side where the motorcycle and rider slid into the side
of the F350. The driver of the motorcycle was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis
Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the motorcycle
was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Officers arriving on the scene located the following vehicles:
Vehicle 1 (V1) 2019 Kawasaki Ninja
Driver 1 (D1) Glenn Keesee (23), Scott City, MO
Deceased
Vehicle 2 (V2) 2017 F350
Driver 2 (D2) Owen Todd (25), Chaffee, MO
Not Injured
The Cape Girardeau Police Department reconstruction team continues to investigate
this incident.
