MINUTES OF MTETING OF CITY PLANNING & ZONING CO*USSICXN May 15, 1957 'vieeting was called to order by , 1resident Wayne Rust, at First Federal Building May 15, 1957., Minutes of the previous meeting were not read and consequently had not been approved. First business at hand was a discussion on whether or not to vacate a ten foot walk way in the Oak Park Addition. This ten foot walk way lies between Lots I and 18, in Block 4,, and Lots 1. and 20, in Block 2 of the Oak Park Addition in the City of Cape Girardeau, M * ssouri, After considerable discussion it was decided that the Planning and Zoning Commission would recommend that this walk way be vacated. Motion was made by Thomas L. Meyer, seconded by Paul R. Williams. President Wayne Rust called question, no further discussion,, all voted in favor of vacating the walk way. Next business broughit before the Planning and Zoning Comis on was a petition to the City Council by Dewey flinton, at 1214 Bertling Street asking that Part of Lots 16, 17, Block 2, 11"larilyn Addition, be rezoned from "All''One family district to "E" Cornmerci,al. After very little discussion motion was rude by Paul R. Williams, and seconded by Barrett Walker that we do not recommend the rezoning of thAt Part of Lots 16, and 17, of Block 2 from its present cla,-sification of "All One Family to "Elt Commercial. All members present voted in f a.vor of motion. ,i Plat submitted by Oscar Goehmann, and Fred Masters, with the request that the Subdivision as submitted be approved. The City Planning and Zoning Commission took into consideration that 115 feet at a proposed street would only be 25 feet wide and the rernaining 242.33 would be only 40 feet wide. After coxisiderable discussion motion was made by Thomas L. Mleyer, seconded by Anderson jories thiat this Subdiviscan not be accepted as submitted. The reason for the rejection is that we feel that 'the 25 foot street is not wide enough to handle the traffic in a proper manner. Also being that the houses are .going to be within 5 feet of the right of way line along the 25 foot street and this in itself would create a tremendous hazard and ai-ter taking all these things into consideration from a stand point of health, and safety, we decided not to recompiend the rezoning of this particular subdivision. Following the discussion on the forear entioned petitions, we bad a verbal request from the Mayor to discuss the matter of rehabilitation for certain areas of Cape Girardeau. After considerable discussion on what possibly could be done for various areas in Cape Girardeau, the City Planning and Zoning Commission by motion by Paul R. Williams, and seconded by Charles Cofer, recommended that we recomend to the City Council that the City Cot.:Incil make a request to the proper authorities asking WAYNE RU T, PRESIDENT WM, G, MAIER, VICE-PRESIDENT THOMAS L.
