WEBSITE FEEDBACK RECEIVED THRU AUG 19, 2024
ANONYMOUS—8/2/24
You should be able to break down the shotspotter data by the two areas it's covering That would help
see what the pattern has been in the first area across the three years (2 partial years) it's been in place
You'll also then be able to see the numbers specifically for the new area where shotspotter was added

Would you post all handouts, reports, data etc provided to the committee on this website also please?
That way we all have access to the same information for offering solutions Thanks

July 4, 2024 To Whom It May Concern I commend the Mayor for wanting to do something about
the violence with guns that has occurred in the city of Cape (SE Missourian, June 11th Op Ed ) I just hope
the committee focuses on the correct source of the problem a€ceGun Violencea€ is not the right term, it
should be a€oeCnminals Committing Crimes with Gunsa€ Guns themselves are not the problem, it is
the criminal using the gun to commit the crime is what should be the focus of the committee For some
reason the gun has been made the focal point of the violence but we dona€TMt apply the same reasoning
to drunk driving The car is not the focal point of a drunk driving accident, it is the actions of the driver that
are investigated In almost every case of a€cegun violencea€❑ there is someone with a criminal
background behind the act Criminals need to be the focus of the committees€TMs attention, not the gun
Searches to make sure the criminals are not carrying guns need to be many and often Parole officers
need to keep closer tabs on their parolees so they dona€TMt have the opportunity to possess a gun If the
City does not have that kind of man-power to make sure the criminal cans€TMt get a gun, I understand,
but dona€TMt start making laws that restrict my right to own a gun because of the shortfalls of the City. I
know this is a very complicated issue but I hope there are people on the committee that will focus on the
correct part of the problem take the a€ceeasy roads€❑ and blame the gun
