A. Capital Improvement Projects Review
i. Director Thompson handed out the CIP submission for the Park and Recreation Department to the
board. Director Thompson went through each project listed and gave a brief explanation. Examples
of some of the projects listed are Capaha Park Pond Renovation, Golf Course Maintenance Building
Renovations, and improvement to the Arena Tennis Courts. All projects do not have a funding
source so they are listed as contingent. When money becomes available they will be assigned to
these projects. PRS2 could be a possible funding source. The official CIP document will be posted to
the website when it is finalized and approved by city council. Director Thompson would like to have
a PRS 2 workshop for proposed projects and prioritization. The board then debated on different
approaches to PRS 2 proposals. They asked questions like, “When will the tax sunset?” “What part
of the tax will be permanent?” “What projects will be on the list?” “What will pass the vote?” “How
will the language be written on the ballot?” All of these areas will have to discussed and thought
about thoroughly.
