Board Meeting: Thursday, August 23, 2018 @ 7am

Present: Fran Austin, Amy Trueblood, David Diveley, John McGowan,
Rekha Patterson, Tony Robinson, Red Redinger, John Voss
Also present: Director Katie Hill, Linda Bailiff
Absent: Stacy Lane
President Amy Trueblood called the meeting to order at 7:00am and
introduced two new board members, Red Redinger and Tony Robinson,
and the new library director, Katie Hill.
The new general revenue tax rate is .1643 and the general revenue temp.
rate will be .1500. John V. made a motion to approve these rates,
seconded by Fran. Motion passed.
The annual Ethics form was distributed and signed by all board members
except Dave and Stacy. The form will be provided to them at the next
meeting, Sept 6th.
The minutes were reviewed. John V. made a motion to approve the
minutes, seconded by Fran. Motion passed.
The bills were reviewed.
Staff: Passport agent Lisa Gilliland resigned from the library to take a full
time position elsewhere. Interviews are underway to fill this part time
position. Marilyn Hutchings will be retiring at the end of December after
22 years of service. As of September 4th part time staff member Chris
Martin will become full time in the Adult Services Dept.
The Public Hearing for the City of Cape was held August 6th. There were
no comments from the public and the budget ordinance, including the
library’s, was approved.
Sharon Anderson wrote a Tech Ladder Grant and has been approved to
purchase 15 lockable laptops and a cart for fall programs. The laptops and
cart are on order.
Quarterly/ Year End Statistic Reports: The 4th quarter and year end
reports were distributed to the board. Katie asked if they would be
interested in seeing these reports on a regular basis. These reports are sent
to the City Manager for their files. A suggestion was made to put a version
of this report on the library website.
Katie will be meeting with Orange Boy next week to become more
familiar with the strategic plan and to discuss “next steps”.
The September program calendar was distributed.

The Board Meeting Calendar was discussed – a couple of minor changes
will be made and then distributed to all board members.

The fall book sale will take place September 7-9th. A volunteer sheet was
distributed.
Plans are underway to sponsor another Collette tour to the Canadian
Rockies by train in 2019. An informational meeting will be held at the
library on October 10th at 4pm.
Meeting adjourned at 8:00am.
