The Board of Appeals met Thursday, April 8, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City
Hall 401 Independence St..
Members Present: Dave Alberson, Dave Pfeiffer, Ralph Maxton, Tony Sebek,
Leonard Henson
Members Absent: Bruce Hacker, Farris Nabors
Call to order at 7:03 p.m. by Ralph Maxton,Vice-Chairman
Roll Call.
Upon motion made, the minutes of the January 14, 1999 meeting were approved.
Appeal Requests:
Mike and Linda Lawrence requested variance from Sections 3408.2, 108.1, 108.2, 101.4,
102.2, 107.5, 310.4 and 310.1 of the 1996 BOCA National Building Code for a structure
under renovation at 625 N. Spanish Street. Since a full board was not present, Mr. and
Mrs. Lawrence chose to postpone their request until the next meeting or when a full board
would be present to hear their request.
Other Business:
Mr. Michael Miller, City Manager appeared before the Board for his annual visit. Mr.
Miller thanked the Board for their work during the past year and invited the Board to a
reception on Monday April 12, 1999 to meet the applicants for the Director of Inspection
Services position vacated by Rick Murray last November. The reception will be held in the
City Council Chambers of City Hall.
The Board discussed the adoption of the Boca and International Codes and requested that
the City Staff investigate how the International Codes would be released in the future,
whether staggered by year or simultaneously.
Upon motion made, the meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m. The next meeting of the Board
of Appeals is scheduled for May 13, 1999.
