The Board of Appeals met Thursday, February 8, 1996 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City
Hall, 401 Independence St.
Members Present:
Dave Alberson, Roy Halbert, Ralph Maxton, Dave Pfeiffer, Tony
Sebek, Farris Nabors (alternate)
Members Absent:
James Arnzen (alternate)
Call to order at 7:02 p.m. by Ralph Maxton, Chairman.
Roll call.
Upon motion made, the minutes of the January 11, 1996 meeting were unanimously approved.
Variance Requests:
David Lah, representing the City of Cape Girardeau Engineering Department, requested
variance from the 1993 BOCA Fire Code, Section 3207.0, Above Ground Storage Tanks,
to install an above ground tank at the water plant located at 20 East Cape Rock Drive. The
1,000 gallon tank, which will be used to hold diesel fuel for the emergency back-up
generator, is located inside a fenced-in area and is equipped with a leak-detector. Tony
Sebek motioned to approve the variance as requested. David Pfeiffer seconded the motion
and motion passed with a 6-0 vote in favor.
Other Business:
Rick Murray reported that the 1996 BOCA code books are now available and have been
ordered.
Upon motion made, the meeting adjourned at 7:17 p.m. The next meeting of the Board of
Appeals is scheduled for March 14, 1996.
