agencies . Members of the Cape Girardeau Police Department gave
presentations on self defense, drug abuse and drug laws.
On April 9- 12, two members of the Crime Prevention Unit attended
the Missouri Crime Prevention Association (MCPA) Conference at
Osage Beach, Missouri . One of the members, Special Officer Bettie
Knoll , attended the conference as a guest of MCPA in recognition

the signing of a proclamation by Mayor Rhodes. The purpose of
National Telecommunicators Week is to recognize the importance of
 the telecommunicator.
On April 20, the Alcohol , Tobacco and Firearms Division, U.S.
Treasury Department, turned .over two class three firearms to our
department. These firearms had been confiscated last summer as
part of a large number of weapons discovered at a local "U" Store

weapons in the arms trade would be about $2500 .

national average and standard for qualifying is a scale of at
least 70y.. Four years ago, our department began retraining

the officers in that during this year' s qualifications, everyone
shot a score of at least 85%.
On May 24, Chief Boyd appeared on the KZIM radio talk show to
discuss issues concerning concealed weapons and the carrying of
firearms. The focus of the talk show was on the manner in which

police department.
On May 25, members of the Major Case Squad met for a training

 NARRATIVE SUMMARY
For the month , we have lost forty more commercial accounts. The
Riverfest was a success. There were some new members on the
Riverfest board who were unfamiliar with normal procedures , but
after a brief orientation everything ran as scheduled.
The Transfer Station was down in June due to equipment failure ,
the parts were readily available and we were back in operation
the following day. City refuse and the large credit customers
were disposed of through the landfill . All other refuse
customers were abZe to be stored on site until the next day.
