The street division put alot of effort towards sealing asphalt street surfaces prior to winter weather. However, this operation had to be stopped before completing all sealing operations to begin the leaf coll— ection operation. Fieet maintenance operations cost for October were down from what they were for the same period last year by approximately sixty—six (66) per— cent. A major sanitary sewer line repair was made by the wastewater division on the twenty—one (21) inch line that serves the College and Henderson grit and pump station. Contract equipment from Donald Bond and Nip Kelley were used to supple— ment the City' s equipment in making this repair. Approximately forty feet of concrete pipe that was installed in the 1920's had to be replaced. This section of line is approximately twenty (20) feet deep in unstable soil. . Guy Lowes, P.E.
