However, a large increase occurred in the code enforcement section. Progress on the Red Star Block Grant street and storm sewer project was excellent. Progress on the South Block Grant was not as good as what the weather conditions permitted. It appears that the contractor on the South Block Grant will not complete his contract work within the contract time and will not complete the contracted items of work this calendar year unless we experience an unusually warm and dry fall and winter. : . a..-r--u.-1-— P . s. The Southeast Missouri District Fair during the second week of September was the reason no lugger containers were set for the month. A lot of time and work went into the preparation for opening and post-fair cleanup. An unusual amount of equipment downtime this month caused considerable problems in normal daily operations . Some days there were only four vehicles available to pick up eight separate refuse routes. Landfill operations proceeded at normal this month. Additional intermediate cover was added to several sections at the landfill. The leachate lagoon was pumped down to about the three-foot level, and the hauling of cover dirt by the Jim Goggin Excavating Company is proceeding well. . ✓ .lv ary L rshe Waste i posal Superintendent WASTE DISPOSAL Month of September, 1985 THIS THIS MONTH THIS YEAR LAST YEAR RESIDENTIAL ROUTES MONTH LAST YEAR TO DATE TO DATE No. of Rear poor Pickups 173 176 173 176 No. of Commercial Pickups 543 521 543 521 Approx. Due to the drier conditions and the cooler nights this month, we have finally begun to catch up on our mowing schedule. The early part of the month was used to seed, fertilize, straw, aerate, and fill all soccer fields. In addition, the City Engineering Department helped us to layout all field boundaries. RECREATION This month was spent in preparing for the Winter Recreation Program offerings. A major program that will get its official kick-off in October is the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department's Logo Design Contest. The 1985-86 , Fall and Winter programs began on Monday, September 30, and have gotten off to a good start with 56 people signed up and participating the first day. In addition to the City sponsored programs, I think it should be pointed out that over 800 youths are using the City' s soccer facilities. Also, the Central Junior and Senior High School soccer teams are using our facilities for all home games free of charge. SEMO University made use of Capaha Field for its Fall Varsity Baseball practice schedule as well as Arena park for its women' s softball team. POOLS For the first time ever, Capaha Pool remained open beyond the Labor Day closing time. As a result, the pool had an attendance of 1, 253, roughly 18$ of the yearly attendance. Central Pool was closed for the entire month to allow for repairs and repainting of the pool basin and change room floors and touch up of the walls. Also, the bubble was erected this month. ' Monthly Activity Report Park Department Page 2 New steps were installed to allow for easier access to pool users. The pool hours for public use are being expanded to accommodate the needs of the people. Fitness Swim will begin in October from 5 : 30 to 7 :30 a.m. and 11 : 30 to 1 :00 p.m. , and during December, January, and February from 3 : 00 to 5 :00 p.m. Admission will be with a pass. Regular Public Swim will be from 5: 00 to 8 :00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 :00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. GOLF On September 24, Golf Architect, Gary Kern, presented his preliminary sketch on the Fairway Automated Irrigation System to the Golf Advisory Board. As a result of his presentation, a new pond was constructed in Fairway 17 and there are plans for further pond and lake construction as well as earth work on several fairways. For the first time ever, there will be 18 winter greens this year. This will hopefully improve play at the course. There were six days that the course attendance surpassed the 150 player mark. Revenues were up 68$ compared with the same date in 1984. te en Bone Director of Parks and Recreation PARK THIS THIS MONTH THIS YEAR LAST YEAR MAINTENANCE HOURS MONTH LAST YEAR TO DATE TO DATE General 342 795 4,883 1/2 5,487 Cut Brush 0 0 48 60 Snow Removal 0 0 318 148 Repair Roads 0 0 230 167 Grass Cutting 847 955 6, 274 6,346 Baseball Field Maintenance 71 0 1, 268 1/2 2,332 Soccer Field Maintenance 1,853 186 2, 217 1,I25 Arena Building Maintenance 40 205 1/2 2, 278 2,058 Fort D Maintenance 88 0 98 24 Central Pool Maintenance 0 0 192 108 Capaha Pool Maintenance 0 0 93 385 Golf Course Maintenance 16 0 29 Airport Maintenance 0 0 540 443 City Hall Maintenance 0 0 74 9 Restrooms Maintenance 314 128 1,264 846 Vandalism Maintenance 0 0 23 361 Ball Diamond #5 72 0 0 230 Litter, Limbs 280 171 1, 668 2,419 Playground Equipment Repair 0 0 850 63 Tennis Courts 0 0 0 21 Capaha Dug Outs 0 0 0 36 Sow Grass 0 0 0 38 Riverfront 5 0 194 553 Water Line Repair 0 0 77 71 Custodian Hours 203 1/2 NA 1,864 1/2 1,261 Fair Cleanup 351 183 351 183 Painting 0 48 488 48 Arena Night Cleanup 36 1/2 87 1/2 739 NA TOTAL MAINTENANCE HOURS 4, 479 2, 759 21,838 1/2 24,822 ARENA EVENTS Civic 2 0 29 22 Commercial 2 5 44 71 Donated 1 1 45 22 Arena Attendance 1,872 3, 300 53,152 96, 384 Arena Rental Revenue $ 944.66 $ 503.75 $20,182.04 $21,234.68 No. of Days Arena Used Profit 4 5 91 111 No. of Days Arena Used-No Charge 1 1 47 22 No. of Events Cancelled 0 2 21 29 GRANDSTAND EVENTS No. of Days Used 0 0 0 9 No. of People Attending 0 0 19, 010 16, 900 No. of Days Cancelled 0 0 3 2 SPECIAL GROUNDS EVENTS No. of Days Used 20 20 21 6 No. of People Attending 95, 000 110,000 97 , 000 110,000 SHELTER RESERVATIONS Arena Shelters 15 11 130 110 Capaha Shelters 17 9 87 84 Cherokee Shelters 18 14 95 79 Dennis Scivally 5 4 22 19 Shawnee 1 1 8 16 Total Shelters Used 57 39 353 387 Total People Attending 4, 074 3,085 25,109 20,670 Total Revenue on Shelters $285. 00 $195. 00 $1,765. 00 $1,550.00 BALL DIAMONDS RESERVATIONS . Arena Diamonds 0 0 828 906 Capaha Diamonds 5 0 136 128 Total Ball Diamonds Reservations 5 0 964 1,034 RECREATION WINTER PROGRAMS AVERAGE ATTENDANCE MAN YEAR ACTIVITY ENROLLMENT MONTHLY/DAILY HOURS TO DATE Morning Workout 911 Morning Aerobics 10 10 / 10 1:15 2,255 Prenatal/Postpartum Exercise Not Offered Adapted Exercise 44 Afternoon Workout 716 Evening Aerobics 40 40 / 40 1:15 3,240 Evening Workout 102 / 8. 5 50: 00 2, 534 Volleyball 667 Basketball League 6 6 / 6 1:30 1,288 Duplicate Bridge 74 52 / 26 10:00 490 VIP Recreation TOTALS 130 210 / 64 :00 12,145 GOLF COURSE THIS MONTH THIS LAST YEAR THIS YEAR MEMBERSHIPS SOLD LAST YEAR MONTH TO DATE TO DATE Senior Citizen Individual 36 38 Senior Citizen Family 4 4 Individual 1 140 107 Family 1 40 39 Passes Used 1,578 1,594 13, 533 12,688 Greens Fees 1,995 2,095 13,166 15,678 Recreation 119 72 PRO SHOP REVENUE Greens Fees 8 , 382.50 12, 212.50 58 , 424. 05 83,760 . 34 Golf Carts 6, 311.58 9 ,503. 40 40,512. 29 58,616. 41 Pull Carts 211. 00 354 .00 2, 200. 01 2,911. 08 Club Rental 481. 00 484. 00 3, 023. 17 3,284.00 Concessions 2, 282.96 2 ,945.67 18 , 536. 98 20,591.22 Passes 76. 37 23, 549 .71 29,006. 83 Gift Certificates 380. 00 2,761.00 Blank 1. 00 Equipment Sales 1,167 .95 1,892.50 9,157 . 46 11,698.42 Beer 798. 97 1, 229 .91 6,344. 23 8,542. 04 Tax 196.74 279 . 23 1,573.26 1,855.11 Voids -229 .92 -146. 32 -2,567 .10 TOTAL REVENUE 19,832.70 29 ,127.66 163,174 .84 220,460. 35 MANHOURS Office Work (Maintenance & Pro) 155 202 3/4 1, 596 1/4 1,713 1/2 Golf Carts 208 3/4 186 1/4 1, 374 3/4 1,632 1/4 Building Maintenance 21 11 3/4 400 1/2 102 Grounds Maintenance 580 3/4 927 1/2 5,502 1/4 6,999 3/4 Marshalling 63 1/4 85 669 1/4 649 1/4 Pro Shop 682 644 3/4 4,919 1/2 4,874 1/4 Shop Work 90 3/4 131 1/4 1,657 1/4 1,314 Telephone Calls 922 866 7► 772 7►936 Total Man Hours 1,801 1/2 2,189 16,119 3/4 17,285 CAPAHA POOL ATTENDANCE Fitness Swim 231 0 0 NA Senior Citizen Swim 179 0 0 NA Special Events 11 0 0 NA Regular Admission Adult 401 0 4,023 NA Regular Admission Child 385 0 6 ,418 NA Coupon Admission Adult 24 0 171 NA Coupon Admission Child 31 0 266 NA Total Attendance 1, 253 0 6 ,855 NA FEES Concessions Stands 161 . 05 0 4 ,309.96 NA Coupon Adult Sales 0 0 75. 00 NA Coupon Child Sales 0 0 100 . 00 NA Reg.
