Dire tor of Public Works DEPARTb1ENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AIRPORT DIVISION MONTH OF MAY, 1988 NARRATIVE SUMMARY Maintenance personnel were very active this month. In addition to their normal activities the following were done. Installed a new hot water heater in the Central Airways Building and a heating and air conditioning unit. Replaced a failed compressor unit on one of the two (2) air conditioning units that serves the restaurant. Sprayed the grass with a weed killer around the runway lights to reduce manually having to mow around them since the large tractor mower can't get very close without damaging the lights. Sanitized the wells and water supply system on May 23rd. The new radio activated lighting of the runways were turned on and then turned off within three (3) days because of concerns of some airplane pilots and tower operations personnel. The City's consultant that designed the system is studying the problem. In the meantime we have gone back to the system that we were using before the radio activated system was installed. Replaced all the cables on the doors in the Central Airways Building since one failed and the others frayed. Replaced a malfunctioning check valve in well #l, replaced contact points in switching controls for the well motors and installed a new pressure guage on the pressure tank on well house #2. Put 25 - 30 lbs. of air pressure in each pressure tank to prevent them from becoming water logged. 1' DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AIRPORT DIVISION Month of MAY, 1988 Page 2 Number of passengers Enplaned Yr.
