To the Honorable Mayor and Council
Of the City of Cape Girardeau,Missouri
Dear Mayor and Council Members:
The Planning and Zoning Commission met Wednesday, December
10, 2003. By majority vote, actual vote counted and in the file, we act and/or
recommend as follows:
l. That the agenda be amended to include consideration of the record plat
for Shawnee Center. The vote to amend the agenda was 9 in favor and 0
in opposition.
2. That the request of Gwenn Freitag, DVM, to rezone 2984 County Road
620, a property currently in the process of annexation into the city limits
of Cape Girardeau, from an R-1 Single Family Residential District to a C-
2 General Commercial District be recommended for approval. The vote
on the motion to approve the request was 9 in favor and 0 in opposition.
No citizens appeared in opposition to this request.
3. That the record plat of Shawnee Center Subdivision be recommended for
approval. The vote on the motion to approve the request was 9 in favor
and 0 in opposition. No citizens appeared regarding this request.
In other business, the Commission recommended approval of an amendment to
the Zoning Ordinance concerning the definition of"Family." The vote on the
motion to approve was 9 in favor and 0 in opposition.
Robb McClary, Inspection Services Director, presented the Commission with a
draft sign ordinance and requested that the Commission appoint a sub-
committee to review the proposed ordinance. Scott Rhodes, Bob Blank and
Greg Williams volunteered to serve on the committee. Greg Williams, who
was appointed chair of the committee, will work with Robb McClary to appoint
at-large Committee members.
