SPECIAL SESSION — APRIL 9, 2004
The Cape Girardeau City Council convened in special session on Friday, April 9, 2004, at 12:00
noon with Mayor Jay B. Knudtson presiding and Council Members Evelyn Boardman, Charles
Herbst, Matthew Hopkins, Marcia Ritter, and Hugh White present. Jay Purcell was absent.
Mayor Knudtson stated that the April 9, 2004, municipal election results had been received from
County Clerk Rodney Miller. Pursuant to Section 7.09(a) of the City Charter, the City Council
canvassed the returns and declared the results of the April 9, 2004, general election, upon Mr.
White's motion, Ms. Boardman's second, and the following vote: Ayes, Boardman, Herbst,
Hopkins, Knudtson, Ritter, White. Nays, none. The results of the election were as follows:
City Council Member Ward 3 194
Jay Purcell
City Council Member Ward 4 329
Hugh White
City Council Member Ward 5 282
Matthew Hopkins
There being no further business, the Council adjourned upon Mr. Hopkins' motion, Mr. White's
second, and the following vote: Ayes, Boardman, Herbst, Hopkins, Knudtson, Ritter, White.
Nays, none.
