STUDY SESSION — JUNE 25, 2003
The Cape Girardeau City Council convened in study session on Wednesday, June 25, 2003, with
Mayor Jay B. Knudtson presiding and council members Evelyn Boardman, Charles Herbst,
Matthew Hopkins, Jay Purcell, Marcia Ritter and Hugh White present.
Interim City Manager Doug Leslie reported that on Thursday, June 26, at 6:00 p.m., at the Osage
Community Centre, there will be an open meeting for the residents that will be affected by the
construction of Bloomfield Road to Stonebridge Subdivision. Ms. Ritter requested staff confirm
that Ms. Jane Cox was contacted about this meeting.
Mr. Leslie also reported that the University and Planning Services are working to expedite the bids
for the Fountain Street Project, Phase I. The project is currently being advertised, and bid opening
will be July 22. The only delay may be the environmental and historic studies being conducted on
the property. This moves up the previous construction schedule by three weeks. The objective is
to have the pavement in place when the bridge opens; however, the stormwater work may not be
complete.
Regarding the East Cape Rock/Country Club Drive street naming issue, Mr. Leslie stated that the
Inspection Services Office sent a letter to all affected property owners and requested they vote on
which name they preferred for the street.
Ms. Ritter made a motion, seconded by Mr. Herbst, to adjourn to closed session for purposes of
discussing personnel pursuant to RSMo. Section 610.021(3). The motion was approved upon the
following roll call vote: Boardman, aye; Herbst, aye; Hopkins, aye; Knudtson, aye; Purcell, aye;
Ritter, aye; White, aye.
