Ms. Marsha Toll, President Elect of Old Town Cape, presented an informational packet to the City
Council about Old Town Cape, including its history and success over the last three years as well as
the goals for the coming years. She informed the Council that the Missouri Main Street program is
requiring Old Town Cape to establish a contract with the City of Cape that provides financial
support in exchange for services from Old Town Cape. Without this, Old Town Cape could lose
its designation as one of only 12 Missouri Main Street communities. Ms. Toll asked the City
Council to continue funding of Old Town Cape at the existing funding level. Upon questioning by
Ms. Ritter, City Manager Michael Miller stated that the City has provided financial support to Old
Town Cape in the amount of $20,000 for each of the last three years. Ms. Boardman commended
Katherine Dunlap and the Board of Directors of Old Town Cape for their work.
Mr. Purcell thanked city staff for the additional information provided on the projects listed in the
Capital Improvements Program budget.
At the last City Council meeting, there were appearances by two citizens with concerns. One was
about a parking situation and the other about the City towing contract. Mayor Knudtson thanked
the city staff for responding to these concerns. Mr. Miller explained that he would communicate
the necessary information to each of the citizens.
Mayor Knudtson recognized all the activities held in the City honoring Martin Luther King, Jr.
Day, including the C. John Ritter award presented to Ms. Ritter.
City Manager Michael Miller presented to the City Council a short presentation relating to the
services offered by the City. This is the first of two presentations that will be presented to various
service clubs in the city to support the tax proposals on the April ballot. The second presentation
will outline the tax initiatives.
