Housing Rehabilitation Project
As of May 1, 1992, thirteen houses have been completed at an appmmate cost
of $155,354.00. Four houses are in progress at an appromate cost of
$36,844.00. A total of seventeen houses are obligated at a total appromate cost
of $192,238.00. The first year's grant from the Department of Economic
Development was for $285,000.00. Subtracting $192,238.00 from the grant
leaves a balance of $92,762.00. This will allow the City to do approxirnately
eight more housing units. Four more housing units are scheduled to be bid within
the next two weeks. The second year's grant will be for $285,000.00.
Sewer Improvement Program

I The City has to purchase or acquire approximately 51 easements. As of May 1,
1992, the City has acquired 44 of those 51 easements, which leaves 7 easements
remaining to be acquired. The first part of the program will be changing the
private sewers in the Park Street area to public sewers. The first year's grant
from the Department of Economic Development was for $55,000.00. The City
plans to start the bid process by the end of 7une, 1992. By the end of July, 1992,
the City plans to start the construction phase. In the second ar, the City will
do the remaining part of sewer improvements, which will be aromately 2,120
linear feet of sewer line. The second year's grant will be for 175,000.00.
Conclusion
The total for the Housing Rehabilitation Program is $570,000.00. The total for
the Sewer Improvement Program is $230,000.00. The total two-year grant from
the Department of Economic Development for both programs is $800,000.00.
The City is required to make an in-kind match of$279,400.00 for both projects.
At the end of two years, the City will spend a total of approxirnately
$1,079,400.00. . . I

acquire right-of-way and bid the project. He indicated that in 1989 n €ad estimated 4-5
years for completion of the project. He added that the timetable really had not changed.
