Box 617 Cape Girardeau, MO 63702-0617 March 3, 1995 To the Honorable Mayor and Council of the City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri Gentlemen: The Planning and Zoning Commission met in special session at 5:30 P.M. on Wednesday, March 1, 1995. The purpose of the meeting was to confer with representatives of the Southeast Missouri Regional Planning and Economic Development Commission as to the status of the City's current Comprehensive Plan. Tom Tucker and Brian Balsman from the Regional Planning Commission Office attended the meeting. Mr. Tucker indicated that the 1990 census information could be inserted into the current Plan to update several areas. He also suggested that any modifications to the plan be prepared in three-ring binders. The Commissioners also discussed other areas of the Plan which had been updated during the years since it's adoption, particularly the Major Street Plan which is reviewed and updated each year. After discussion on particular areas that may need to be updated, R. J. McKinney made a motion to have the Regional Planning Commission provide loose-leaf copies of the plans in three-ring binders with the 1990 census information included, and with any additional updates that the City has made to the plan since it's adoption in 1987, for review by the Planning and Zoning Commission. The motion was seconded by Charles Thrower. The motion was approved unanimously. Mr. Tucker will provide the Commission with cost estimates and time frames for providing the information requested by the Commission. The Commissioners felt it would be easier to review the Plan if all revisions that had been made to the Plan since 1987 were inserted. Then it can be reviewed to see if additional revisions are needed, and where those revisions might be made. Respectfully submitted, {z Robert N.
