July 10, 1992
To the Honorable Mayor and Council
of the City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri
Gentlemen:
The Planning and Zoning Commission met Wednesday, July 8,
1992 . By majority vote, actual vote counted and in the file, we
act and/or recommend as follows:
1. That the record plat of Sweetbriar Estates be approved.
2 . That the record plat of Stonebridge Subdivision Phase I be
approved.
Discussion was held regarding zoning requirements for family
day care homes. Deanna Long and Ann Hall from the State Child Care
Licensing Office were present to answer questions from the
Commission. The Commission requested that the staff prepare draft
amendments to the current ordinance as follows:
(1) To allow family day care homes to have one registered
adult assistant on call for emergencies when required by
the Missouri Division of Family Services for licensing
purposes; and
(2) To specifically allow an operator to request a Special
Use Permit to care for more than six (6) children but not
more than ten (10) children in a residential zone.
The Commission felt these changes would assist family day care home
operators in residential areas.
The Commission visited the Shadybrook and Pioneer Mobile Home
Courts to receive further input on potential revisions regarding
travel trailers in mobile home parks.
