Box 617 Cape Girardeau, MO 63702-0617 January 10, 1991 To the Honorable Mayor and Council of the City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri Gentlemen: The Planning and Zoning Commission met Wednesday, January 9, 1991. The Commission reviewed a request from the City Council concerning a variance for improvement plans for the Rockbridge Subdivision, which is located at the end of Country Club Drive. Motion was made and unanimously approved to recommend denial of the request as submitted. Commissioners felt that the radii could be varied to a minimum of 75 feet, and the alignment problem should be addressed as to whether or not additional right-of-way would be acquired. The BOCA Minimum Property Maintenance Code was discussed. The Council had requested the Commission's opinion on whether or not such a code was needed, and if so, would this code be appropriate. The Commission heard comments from four persons who own rental units. After discussion, the Commission felt that it would benefit them in making a decision if a public hearing could be held on the matter prior to their making a decision. The Commission also felt it would be beneficial if City Council members were invited to attend this hearing. Alvin Stoverink, Assistant City Manager, reviewed some of the items proposed for the Capital Improvements Program budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The Commission indicated the top four streets they felt should be included in the budget, which were Lexington Avenue; North Sprigg Street, Bertlinc to Lexington; Perryville Road, from end of pavement to City Limits; and Hopper Road, bridge and approaches, and section from Mt. Auburn to Kage Road. The last item on the agenda was the election of officers for the upcoming year.
