PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
 MINIITES
City of Cape Girardeau
P. O. Box 617
Cape Girardeau, MO 63702-0617
June 14, 1990
To the Honorable Mayor and Council
of the City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri
Gentlemen:
The Planning and Zoning Commission met Wednesday, June 13 ,
1990. By majority vote, actual vote counted and in the file, we
act and/or recommend as follows:
1. That the request of James and Mary Curry for a
Special Use Permit for an arcade with video games
and pool tables at 833 North Spanish Street in an
R-2, Single Family Residential District, zone be
recommended for approval.
The Commission also recommended approval of a preliminary plat
of the Resubdivision of Lots 13 , 14, 15, 21, 22, and 23 of Woodland
Hills Estates. This plat changes some of the lot lines from the
previously submitted plat by enlarging these lots to the north.
Mr. Robert Drury appeared before the Commission and presented
a letter withdrawing his request to have the ordinance chanced as
it relates to billboards, and that the Commission review instead
regulations concerning on-premise sign regulations. The consensus
of the Commission was that all sign regulation ordinances should be
reviewed at a special meeting to be scheduled at a later date.
Mr. Kent Bratton gave a status report on the William Street
comrehensive rezoning and development of screeninc between
residential and commercial/industrial districts. Staff is in the
process of preparing information to submit to the Commission for
their review and comment.
The major street plan for the City will be reviewed for
possible amendment once the plans have been established for
connections and interchanges on the new bridge route.

The Commission was requested to make a recommendation on the
impact of traffic if Silver Springs Road was constructed between
William Street (Route K) and Gordonville Road as requested by Drury
Development Company. The consensus of the Commission was that the
connection would greatly affect traffic on Gordonville Road, but
that the connection could be made if the Council could proceed with
the construction of Silver Springs northward to Independence Street
within the next 12 to 18 months, and if the intersection at Silver
Springs Road and William Street was signalized in conjunction with
the construction.
Discussion on the review of revision of the Rules of
Procedures for the Planning and Zoning Commission was postponed
until a later date.
Respectfully submitted,
