General Commercial District) & Section 30- 334 (C-2 Highwav Commercial District) Mr. Shrimplin informed the Commission that the City Council did not take action on the proposed amendment to the C-1 (General Commercial) district regulations. He explained that the Council indicated they would like to review amendments to the C-1 (General Commercial) and C-2 (Highway Commercial) districts at the same time. He also informed the Commission of a Special Use Permit application that was recently submitted for a vehicle body shop in the C-2 district, which is not permitted by right or as a special use. Staff would like to propose adding "vehicle body or paint shops" as a special use in the C-2 district. The Commissioners unanimously expressed support for the addition. Mr. McClanahan stated the only concern would be the appearance of the impound lot, which could be controlled by imposing conditions as part the Special Use Permit, if necessary. The group noted there are two existing vehicle body shops on North Kingshighway, both zoned C-2, which have not caused problems.
