Mike Sheehan of 510 North West End Boulevard spoke on behalf of his neighborhood.
He informed the Commission that his neighborhood was part of a proposed historic
district and that he and his neighbors wanted to take action in reference to zoning. He
mentioned that he wants the area to remain as a single family area. Sheehan voiced his
concerns about houses that are going up for sale and being bought by property
managers for college students to live in. Sheehan also asked the Commission about the
definition of family in the zoning code and how it would change in the update of the
zoning code.
Lester Goodin of 380 North Park spoke on behalf of his neighborhood. Goodin spoke on
the rezoning of the neighborhood that took place 11 years ago and the petition that has
been circulating for the proposed historic district. He added that it is a rare occurrence
for neighbors to work together to accomplish something. He said that showed how much
he and his neighbors want to preserve their neighborhood. Goodin handed a letter of
questions to the Commission that he desired to discuss and have answered at the next
meeting.
Chairman Hinckley informed the residents that these were conversations that needed to
take place at the staff level and he encouraged the residents of the proposed historic
district to meet with staff.

Linda Ruddy of 1222 Normal said that she thought the neighborhood was single family
y and was now confused about what single family means. She also mentioned that she is
' concerned about what will happen with houses that go up for sale in the neighborhood.
Mike Sheehan added that he has seen two houses purchased by landlords and suspects
these houses may be in violation. Sheehan also noted that he feels the neighborhood is
slowly being destroyed.
Chairman Hinckley encouraged the property owners to watch the area and if they
suspect a violation to report it to the appropriate City department.
Charles DiStefano of 360 North Park stated that he thought districts that were zoned R-2
