were going along in satisfactory manner. By a lot of hard work and good
planning all the Front Nine Tees are ready for final top soil dressing and
seeding. (except #2 Mens) The Soil will be hauled by the National Guard
Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th of April. The back greens will be ready
for topsoil by the week of April 21st. The back tees will be ready for
top soil by the following week. This top soil will have to be hired
hauled as we need it, or stock piled ahead of time. Bob Gass has done a good
job of finding this top soil and making these arrangements.
LeRoy Coryea also reported that the Income for March was $5,287.00, an in—
crease over last March. The income, number of players and season passes
are all up from same period last year. We are all encouraged for we know the
golfers are there waiting for the kind of a Municipal Course we hope to give
them and our City.
It was the urgent recommendation by the Advisory Board that the City Council
issue a Free Complimentary Advance Green Tee Card to LeRoy Coryea and his
family for the 1980 seasons play on Cape Jaycee's Municipal Golf Course.
We feel that by them playing on their own Course as often as possible, they
will be better able to know what improvements could be made to make play
more enjoyable to all Golfers. The Motion was made by Clyde Schwab and
Seconded by Larry Essner. Passed by the Board.

Liz Gereke and Beverly Gereke approached the Board about the possi-
bility of having a tournament on the course. The Tuesday Ladies
League is a member of the Missouri Ladies League Association. This
year their league has been selected 1.0 host the SEMO Area Ladies
Invitational Tournament, on August 19, 1980 at 9 a.m. They further
requested that the course be closed to the public until 1:00 p.m.
to allow the league to play through. Chairman Brey and the Board agreed
that there would be no problem in scheduling the event and closing
the course until 1:00 p.m. on August 19, 1980.
The Board then made an inspection of the course. Leroy Coryea
reported that the back nine greens are aprigged, the banks seeded
and the tees are seeded. All are growing nicely. They have also
corrected the large ditch on 15 fairway. A 361 round concrete
pipe 170 feet long has been buried and seeded. The new 16 fairway
has been shaped by the removal of several trees.
Leroy Coryca reported that income for the course in May was $14,972.84
up from last years $10, 545.21.
The Board would strongly oppose the exclusion of 10 new golf carts from
the upcoming budget, since they are desperately needed.
The Board discussed the need for cart trails on the front tees. The
terrain is rough and the trails are needed to keep from tearing
up the golf carts.

looked satisfactory. Order placed for them.

except those sponsored by the City of Cape Girardeau. Seconded
by Jerry Brey.
Discussion followed concerning the very urgent need for the 10 new
golf carts already in the budget for 1980-81). We were all disappointed
that no action had been taken on this purchase. Since we need
them for the pleasure of our players and the resulting income from
them. Discussion also upon the extra improvements a gasoline powered cart
would give over the electric cart.
Namely: 1. Runs all day - no stalling on course
2. Less maintenance- simple, strong, motor
3. No chargers, batteriey electricity, wiring
4. More revenue because of ne recharging
5. Cost: upkeep minor compared to purchase of new batteries

been received and that we are losing some revenue because of
not having them.

$10,117.00. This being the first complete month with 18 holes all
in play.
Leroy Coryea reported that one of the new drinking fountains was installed
on the course half way around the front nine. He is reading the permanent
greens as quickly as possible so they will be available this fall for play
when the regular greens must be covered. tie also reported that the
ponds were very low on water and that if it were not for the city water
being available the golf course greens and tees would have been in
danger of being damaged by the extreme long hot dry weather.
The Greens and Tees are in really good shape. We are getting quits a
