'Ifhe applicant has also provided a catalogue showing the proposed storm doors. Black and white copies of the pictures are included in this agenda packet. I will have color pictures at the meeting on January 20`s. Also included in your agenda packet, is the page of the design guidelines that addresses storm doors. The Commission will be meeting at 6S0 p.m. to discuss signage for the Boulevard Local Historic District. 'the Parks Department has provided boards with lettering on them as an example of what the sign could look like. The dimensions for the sign would be about five (5) feet by two (2) feet. The cost for materials is between $150 and $200 per sign. Please review this information and let me know either by phone or email if you will be at the meeting on January 20, 2010. M RE: FEBRUARY 17, 2010 HISTORIC PRESERVATION MEETING Enclosed is the agenda packet for the January 20, 2010 meeting. There will be a work -session beginning at 6:30 p.m. to continue discussion on the plans for the walking tour during Historic Preservation Month. The first item on the agenda for the regular meeting is an application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for property within the Boulevard Local Historic District. The owners of the property located at 1222 Normal are requesting to replace the shingles on their home. The applicant has provided pictures of his home and the neighborhood that it is located in. I have included black and white copies of the pictures in this agenda packet. I will have color pictures at the meeting on February 17a. Also included in your agenda packet, is the page of the design guidelines that addresses this type of request. Also included on your agenda is the establishment of the final boundaries and the allocation of funds for the 2010 Historic Preservation Survey which is to be completed by Dr. Hoffman's Historic Preservation students. The survey area includes the area bound by Sprigg Street on the west, North Street on the north, the alley between Middle and Fountain on the east, and the rear (north) property line of the parcels located on the north side of Broadway on the south. I recently attended the 2010 Annual Certified Local Government Forum in Jefferson City. At the forum, we had a working lunch to discuss a variety of topics. One of the topics was plans for the Civil War Sesquicentennial. This might be something else that we could discuss during items not on the agenda if any of you are interested. Also, in April one of your agenda items will be election of officers. Please be thinking whether or not you would like to be chairman, vice-chairman, or secretary. If you currently hold one of those offices, you may be able to be re-elected. F- - RE: APRIL 21, 2010 HISTORIC PRESERVATION MEETING Enclosed is the agenda packet for the April 21, 2010 meeting. Please be aware that there will be a work session beginning at 6:00 p.m. The first agenda item during the work session will be the election of new officers. According to Section 30-203(d) of the Zoning Ordinance, all officers of the Historic Preservation Commission shall be eligible for reelection. The second item on the agenda for the work session is to finalize plans for the Historic Preservation Month walking tour. The tour is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Common Pleas Courthouse. The walk will progress west on Themis, then north along Frederick, and east on Broadway, returning back to the Common Pleas Courthouse. The third item on the agenda for the work session is to have discussion on plans for the Civil War Sesquicentennial. The regular meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. on April 21, 2010. There are two National Register nominations on the agenda for this meeting. The first is for the Common Pleas Courthouse which has a period of significance from 1854 to 1859. The second is for the Courthouse Seminary Neighborhood Historic District which has a period of significance from 1847 to 1948. Please be aware that there will be a work session beginning at 6:30 p.m. The work session will be used to discuss committee updates and schedule a time and place for the retreat in July. The committee updates to be discussed will be the Civil War Sesquicentennial and original treasures. The regular meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. on June 16, 2010. The first item on the agenda for the regular meeting is a presentation on transportation trust fund projects. The final item is a request for a certificate of appropriateness for the property at 560 North West End Boulevard. The applicant is requesting to replace the old slate shingles with new asphalt shingles. I have included pictures of the existing structure with the existing shingles. The applicant also submitted pictures of a structure down the street with light gray asphalt shingles that I have included in your packet. There will also be a sample of the requested shingle at the meeting on Jane 16`h. At 6:30 p.m. I will be providing training based on the recent Historic Preservation Training event that I attended in Ste. Genevieve on November 5"' and 6`s. The regular meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. on December 15, 2010. The first item on the agenda for the regular meeting is signage for the Boulevard Local Historic District. Included in your agenda packet are pictures of an example of a sign for a historic district from another community. "Phis example could be used for the Boulevard Local Historic District. "Ifhe requested locations for the street signs are North West End and Rockwood, North West End and Highland. Henderson and Hillcrest, Henderson and Rockwood, and Park and Broadway. I am in the process of collecting price quotes for signs that say, "Boulevard Historic District." the second item on the agenda is signage for the Common Pleas Courthouse. t have obtained price quotes from Franklin Bronze Plaques and will also have price quotes from Newman Brothers at the December 15°i meeting. I will also have proofs from both companies for you to review as well. At the meeting, you can choose which sign you want and how much money to allocate for the purchase of the sign. Some of the propeny owners within the Boulevard Local Historic District have asked if there is a way to streamline the process of acquiring a Certificate of Appropriateness. I would tike to discuss what your thoughts or ideas may be in doing this.
