(Closest Session)
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board opened the closed session meeting held on July l3, 2009 at
Osage Community Centre at 6:25 p.m.
Chairman Danny Essner reiterated the May 11, 2009 board meeting discussion pertaining to the
possibility of purchasing a track of land north of Highway 74 and West End Boulevard that adjoins city
property owned by 1cos Glastetter.
Percy Huston, representing the Cape Youth Baseball League reported that the league is interested in
having a fundraiser to help purchase the property. He reported that it would make an excellent future site
for a four complex site for the middle youth rearms and it could also be used for some of the large
tournaments that the Parks and Recreation Department holds. The staff and Mr. Huston have looked at a
5.34 acre adjoining property that might be available next to over three acres we already own across from
the Shawnee Park Sports Complex.
There is also a possibility that sonic available limits remaining from the Arena fields, could go toward the
additional complex. Mr. Huston will be working with the staff to determine what their needs are at the
Arena Park ballficlds to see if they will have any savings that could go toward the purchase of the land.
They should know their financial status within 30 days.
All board members were in agreement that the adjoining land should be purchased for future growth for
the Parks and Recreation Department, they would just need to explore (lie financial resource options that
might be available.
Director Moser will check on any problems than might exist changing the zoning from a single family
development status_
There being no further regular business, the meeting was adjoumcd by Dana 17eisher and seconded by
