Cape Kiwanis is considering undertaking the cause of improving Cherokee Park in the City of Cape Girardeau. In the past, the Kiwanis Club has given substantial amounts to city parks for such things as shelters, basketball courts, scoreboards, and playground equipment. The Kiwanis Club is now willing to contribute a large sum of money to the improvement of Cherokee Park. The source of this money would be the club's revenues from the bingo that it operates on Monday nights at Bingo World. The Cape Kiwanis Club would like the Park Advisory Board to consider the following plan: 1. The Kiwanis Club would donate a significant amount of money to the Park Foundation over a ten-year period. In the first year, the Kiwanis Club would donate $70,000.00 to be used for the replacement of a shelter and for the installation of skateboard equipment. 2. Thereafter, the Kiwanis Club would continue to donate over the next ten years, provided revenues from bingo remain stable. The City would then change the name of the park to Kiwanis Park. 3. In addition to financial. contributions, Kiwanis Club intends to have its members undertake a beautification project each year.- using Kiwanis members' labor. Thank you for your consideration of this proposal.
