It would not set the price ofd project. If the Council desires to have R. -'W% Booker prepare this application for the city, the cost would be less than $1000.00. The Park Board has been advised that several million dollars in BOB funds will probably be released for 1974 use in Missouri.) (2) that the City Council make plans for the opening of the new parks this spring through the development of the roads in accordance with the Master Park Plan; (3) that the City Council authorize and encourage provisions for picnic tables, baseball backstops, mowing and landscaping requirements that will be needed when the new parks open this spring; (4) that the City Council approve the building of four tennis courts in the Arena Park location specified in the Master Plan, since, the Park Board feels, this would benefit the community much more, be no more expensive than the bid to renovate the Capaha courts, and not interrupt what use of the existing facilities may be provided; (5) that the City Council consider an ordinance forbidding the playing of golf in the city parks except by special permit such as supervised golf classes, since several persons have already been hit and serious accidents only barely avoided; and (6) that the City Council authorize payment of the attached bill, Invoice #9, dated February 19, 1974, to R. W. Booker and Associates. In addition, the Board was reminded that the Booker firm will have the Final Master Plan completed within 7 to 10 days and, therefore, if there are any—i'urt erg suggestions or recommendations from the council members, these must be forwarded to Booker as soon as possible. CAPE GIRARDEAU PARK BOARD Irene Stevens, Secretary James Hirsch, Chairman MINUTES OF PARK BOARD MEETING September 23, 1974 Attendance: Jim Hirsch, Wayne Martin, Bill McCutchen, Doc Brass, and Irene Stevens. Agenda: Election of officers Correspondence from Bowhunters and Kiwanis Ponds in new park land Naming of new parks Elections were held with the following results: 'Chairman, Wayne Martin; Vice-chairman, Jim Hirsch, Secretary, Jim Logan. The letter from the Bowhunters Club was read. They are seeking a location to use as an archery range. They also propose that the area be fenced. It was not clear from their letter whether or not they were willing to help in the development of such an area. Discussion brought out that none of the board members thought it appropriate to fence off an area in a publi@.park. It was recommended that a committee consisting of Doc Brass and Bill McCutchen will meet with Mr. Lappe of the Bowbunters. They will look over the south part of Lefarth tract for possible use by archers. The committee will report back at the next meeting. A letter was received by the Kiwanis Club requesting permission to construct a picnic shelter in the Koerber tract. It was moved to recommend that the City Council accept this proposal with the provision that the Kiwanis Club present their final specifications to the Park r Board chairman and the Park Superintendent prior to beginning of construction. The motion was seconded and passed. The locations of the ponds on the. new park land was checked. It was decided that to proceed on the ponds, the Board should have a layout of the roads now being constructed in the parks. Motion was made to have Wayne Martin and others from the Conservation Commission prepare definite layouts and cost estimates for these ponds as soon as weather permits. The motion was seconded and passed. There was a brief discussion on the need to begin plans for a second swimming pool. It was moved to recommend to the City Council that a 50 meter pool be built on the Koerber tract as located on the Master Park Plan. The motion was seconded and passed. It was moved to recommend that the Council authorize the Park Board to initiate and publicize a contest by which the public could submit possible names.for the two new.parks. The motion was seconded and passed. It was decided that our regular meeting night will be the second Monday of the month. The next regular meeting will be October 14 at 7:30 p.m. Respectfully submitted,
