Missouri Public Library Directors Meeting: Betty attended MPLD ,lune 6 & 7°i
where she conducted a pre -conference to update members on the revisions of the
Public Library Standards document. Al the meeting the State Librarian gave an
update on the State Library - not sure how services will change after losing ;, of
their workforce. Based on the age of our building and the ADA Compliance
presentation, the library is fully compliant. There was a Health Care Reform Act
presentation which indicated that the library will be affected because even though
we have fewer than 50 employees, we share health insurance with the City of
Cape who employs well over 50. The library may be required to offer insurance to
any part-time staff member who works more than 30 hours per week. There are
two staff members who are currently in that category. It could cost the library an
additional $6500 per year per employee. Betty will check with Marathon
Insurance for a competitive quote to see if it would be worth the library getting
insurance on its own — which would reclassify, it to under 50 employees, and the
Health Care Reform Act would not apply.

review of all medical bills. A board member suggested cameras in the parking lot
could alleviate claims against the library. Kevin Greaser said the bank has them
they store loolage lin six months, and do not share the contents without a
subpoena. Betty will check about pricing and installation costs of parking lot
cameras.

COMMENTS
and Betty Martin. Chad described a project he is interested in building on his land
that is adjacent to the west side of the library. He owns 5 acres that starts
approximately at Walker Slrecl and continues to Bingo World. I lis intent is to
gain support to build a 44 unit Senior Housing apartment building. There are
considerations such as: ingress and egress, existing flood plain issues, and the
final awarding of lax credits. If all is achieved the project could start as early as
April, 2014. The Board approves this project as long as there is no construction
equipment on library property, and the library driveway is not used for
construction purposes. John made a motion to grant Chad a letter of support
from the Library Board of Trustees, seconded by Ed. Motion passed. Chad
will email Belly with an appropriate letter of recommendation from the library for
her review and approval. Chad will include this recommendation in his proposal
to the Missouri I lousing Development Commission.
