To the Honorable Mayor and Council
of the City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri
Gentlemen:
The Planning and Zoning Commission met Wednesday, June 12,
1989. By majority vote, actual vote counted and in the file, we
act and/or recommend as follows:
1. That the request of Thomas L. and Helen M. Meyer and
Cora Lee Musgrave to rezone 806 William Street and
135 South Ellis Street from R-4, Multiple Family
Residential, to C-2, General Commercial District,
zone, be recommended for approval.
2. That the request of W. R. Withers and Michael and
Cheri Carlton to rezone 814 William Street from R-4,
Multiple Family Residential, to C-2, General
Commercial District, zone, be recommended for
approval.
A written and verbal request was made by Mr. John
Patrick Carter, owner of 822 William Street,
requesting that his property be rezoned in
conjunction with the above two rezonings, from R-4,
Multiple Family Residential, to C-2, General
Commerical District zone. His property is located
to the west of the two above properties on William
Street for which a hearing was held at this meeting.
The Commission's decision was to recommend approval
of this rezoning also, as all abutting property
owners had been notified in connection with the two
properties on the agenda.
That the request of William H. Gaeer, Richard T.
Many, Jr. and PAR Enterprises, Inc. for a Special
Use Permit for a service station at 812 North Sprigg
Street, in an R-4, Multiple Family Residential,
zone, be tabled until the July meeting, since no one
was present to speak for the proposal. A number of
residents appeared in opposition.

That the proposed ordinance for the Protection
of
the Historic
and Architectural
Character of
the
Resources of
the City of Cape
Girardeau,
be
recommended
for approval, with
comments to
be
submitted by
Commission members in
writing to
the
City Planner
by June 21st.
