Walker turned the floor over to Major Brown of the Civil Air Patrol_ Major Brown stated the United States Air Force mandates regular training exercises for the CAP. Their next exercise search -and -rescue -type work) will be held March 18-20 at Cape Girardeau, The CAP has received permission from Cape Central Airways to use their main meeting room during the exercise. as well as the restrooms after regular business hours. Major Brown is requesting space on the airfield to pitch small tents the evenings of 3118 and 3/19. Heldman asked if some of the CAP would be, willing to reinstall tie -down ropes on the City ramp; Brown said they would do it during their off - time. The Airport Board and Staff had no objection to the tents being pitched; Heldman and Brown will discuss if they are to be located inside or outside the. fence. Major Brown thanked the Airport Board for their time, and excused himself. Holdman informed the Airport Board a security inspection was conducted in February; no discrepancies were found. The need for stringent security procedures is due to the fact all passengers departing CGI on TWE dump into a sterile area in St. Louis. Heldman also explained the airfield now has three electric gates which operate with one gate card. New gate cards are currently being issued. Everyone who receives a card is filling out proper paperwork and all documentation is being filed. Holdroan further explained the time delays on each gate and how to keep a gate open, if necessary. Staff explained the new Airport Marketing Video, which was put together by KBSI Fox 23, has been sent to several airlines and companies; copies will also be sent to TWE as well as travel agencies that haven't been to our airport. The Airport Board then viewed the four minute, 36 second video; it was very well-received. The Airport Board was brought up-to-date on upcoming promotional events at the airport. Friday, April 15 the downtown Rotary Club is sponsoring "The Great American Circus", which will be held on the airfield. The PACE Program, which was scheduled for Saturday, April 9 has been pushed back by the FAA due to budget cuts. The FAA Poker Run is still on for Saturday, May 14 as is the "Wings" program on Thursday evening, June 9, The Confederate Air Force is planning on having static displays at M CGI May 30 - June 2. Finally, the Balloon Fest is scheduled for July 22-24. Enplanements were discussed. Since 6/93 TWE's load factor (passengers per flight) has been over six; they break even at six. February '94 was another record- breaking month, with 352 enplanements on TWE. The early Sunday afternoon flight has proven to be popular, with 14-15 passengers per flight; Holdman received a letter from Bill Mishk stating the Sunday flight has probably turned the corner. Staff is now working with TWE on the possibility of having a Brasilia overnight at CGI, go into Marion in the morning where it will meet a flight from Paducah, then continue into Chicago. TWE is considering this proposal; it's possible it will be implemented this summer. Maki made a motion the Airport Board enter into closed session. Wandrick seconded and the motion carried. The Airport Board returned to regular session. With no further business to discuss, Maki made a motion the meeting be adjourned. Waltz seconded and the motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 6:15 PM. Respectfully submitted, b[1'lLOCir Sandra L. Bloom Airport Secretary
