A. Mr. Chenoweth reminded the Airport Board the Missouri Airport Manager's Association (MAMA)
will be holding its spring conference in Cape Girardeau on Thursday and Friday, May I I and 1'_'. He
invited the Board, on behalf of MAMA, to attend the meeting and the dinner.
B. Dr. Walker asked about the status of the tower. Mr. Chenoweth commented he is currently putting
together facts and figures; however, our traffic count is not helping our argument. Mr. Nesler
commented it is evident the tower argument cannot be supported on traffic count alone. Mr.
Chenoweth stated he is planning to advertise for cross-country traffic in such national publications as
Trude-a-Vlnne, etc. Dr. Walker suggested Mr. Chenoweth and Air Evac Aviation visit other airports
and invite pilots to Cape Regional. He went on to suggest the Airport Board make a recommendation
to City Council they put together a plan now to keep the tower open and not wait until the last minute
to decide what to do. Mr. Waltz disagreed; he commented that is taking a defeatist attitude. His
suggestion was to ask Mr. Fischer, the City Manager, to an Airport Board meeting and express
concerns to him at that time; the Airport Board doesn't know what the C itv plans to do or are already
working on. Mr. Maki stated he heard that if an airport docs not have a control lower, they will lose
all airline service as well; he asked Mr. Chenoweth if that was true. Mr. Chenoweth stated he is
checking into that. he Ims been given two different answers.
After much more discussion, it was decided State Senator Peter Kinder should be solicited for his
help in keeping the tower. Mr. Waltz will set up a time for the Senator to visit the airport and meet
with Mr. Chenoweth. I Ie asked Mr. Chemoveth to put together a packet for the Senator, including an
issue-oriented briefing which should be no longer than two pages, preferably one. He asked for the
packet to be completed "within the next day or son
C. Mr. Nesler asked about the Compass Rose. Mr. Chenoweth reported he spoke with Bill I ]nick of
Cape Avionics and discovered it will be "no problem". It and the VOR checkpoint would require
being situated on asphalt, something with no re-bar. Mr. Nesler and Dr. Walker suggested using an
asphalt taxi-way.
D. Mr. Maki commented on the new 'Regional" lettering on the entrance sign. It stands out. does not
blend with the rest of the lettering. Mr. Chenoweth replied he is going to talk to the sign company
concerning this matter.

from TWIT, but they were down somewhat from March as well as April of last year. I Ie commented
Mays figures could be down as well: the mid-morning flight has been changed to a 1230 PM
departure. The travel agents and passengers are not happy with this change. as the best connections to
., be made in St. Louis are now the 3:00 PM bank, putting travelers into their destinations in the evening
instead of the afternoon. Mr. Chenoweth said TWE is going to try and change the departure time back
