Chairman Waltz called the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m.
Due to a quorum not being present for the meeting, Chairman Waltz opened the meeting by discussing sky diving at the
airport with Mr. Gates.
Mr. Gates explained his plans to begin sky diving operations at the airport on a small scale, not being able to promise a lot
of activity. He plans to have tandem operations with photography available for the diver, and would like to jump
weekdays and weekends. Mr. Gates ensured the board he would be following all FAA regulations and has proper
insurance coverage.
Board members expressed their safety concerns and concerns with a standing NOTAM which was filed. Mr. Gates
explained they are in constant contact with the tower and skv diving is a lot safer than most people think. I le also
explained it was his understanding that a permanent NOTAM had to be tiled. After further discussion, the board explained
that it would help to market the airport if that NOTAM was filed with a letter of waiver, then allowing one hour notice to
the tower to be sufficient.
Mr. Gates, Mr. Heldman, Mr. Denton and Control Tower Chief Larry Davis will get together to sort out anv unresolved
Issues and have a letter of agreement signed. Mr. Denton will send a copy of the signed letter of agreement to all board
`smbers for their information when completed.
Mr. Rollins reported on the search for a new restaurant operator. He explained he is working with Carol Halbert and Tina
Colyott and also received a call from Geneva Phillips, formerly a cook on a river boat, who is interested. Mr. Rollins also
explained he has spoken with several individuals who would be willing to help support the operations as sponsors. The
board felt the Request For Proposal should be sent out.
Mr. Denton passed around a proof of the Corporate Brochure which will be going out. He would like to meet with the
Public Relations Committee to discuss a few issues in reference to the brochure.
Mr. Denton informed board members of the Airport Manager applicant deadline being December 11. After that time, the
City Manager plans to review the resumes, narrow the field down to three or four, bring them in for interviews and a
reception with the Airport Advisory Board. He welcomed the board to contact the City Manager with any comments on
what thev wished to see in an Airport Manager. With the many experienced individuals in the aviation field on the Airport
Advisory Board, the board felt they could supply much more assistance by being more involved in the process: such as
reviewing the resumes and establishing interview questions.
There being no further business for discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
