A. Manager's Report on 2012 ICAS Conference — Mr. Loy informed the Board
that this year's conference went very well. Ile stated we were selected for an
Navy F-18 and the U.S. Army Golden Knights demonstration team for our 2013
air show dates. We were also selected by the Royal Canadian Air Force to
receive their jet team, the Canadian Snowbirds in 2014. Mr. Loy slated the
cost of performers seemed more reasonable and he hopes to plan a smaller event
in 2013 with a larger event to follow in 2014. Ile reviewed some of the
performers he would seriously consider contracting with.
Mr. Albright questioned what type of event is currently being planned for 2013.
Ile remembered the Board had suggested we do an upgraded aviation day in
2013 and then a full air show in 2014. Mr. Loy noted that the board did discuss
more than an aviation day or open house if the Navy committed an F-18,
however, he feels strongly that we cannot just have the Navy F-18 as our only
performer at an Open House. Rather, the Navy and the Amy are committing
for recruiting purposes and will expect some type of actual air show with a good
audience in attendance. Mr. Loy will begin talking to businesses and would like
to keep the number of performers and ramp displays dependent on sponsorships.
Mr. Albright noted that he would like to keep the show free to the public.
Mr. Loy stated that he also received confirmation that the Golden Knights will
perform at the 2013 SEMO homecoming event and that City will split the cost
with the university.
B. T -Hangar Construction — Mr. Loy informed the Board that he is moving
forward with the design phase regarding the construction of a set of ten (10) t -
hangars. He is currently researching sizes and pricing with consultant
Crawford. Murphy, & Tilly. Mr. Loy hopes to use state and tcderal entitlement
n
funds to pay for the majority of the project.
C. Control Tower Rehabilitation — Mr. Loy informed the Board that the control
tower rehabilitation project will begin soon. 'Phe tower will most likely have to
close for a portion of the project but Lary Davis, control tower chief, is
researching other options. there is a pre-bid meeting scheduled for January 15,
2013.
Mr. Loy also informed the Board there has been issues with the tower radio
receiver and it has been determined a new receiver needs to be purchased. Mr.
Davis is researching the cost of the new equipment and hopes to have more
information soon. Mr. Loy is also trying to explore funding options to help
purchase the equipment. Discussion continued on the topic.
