I. NEN BUSINESS
A. 2012 Air Festival- Mr. Loy called the meeting to discuss the feasibility of holding file
2012 air festival. Mr. Albright and Mr. Cork came up with an "Aviation Day" format.
This would consist of more education based exhibits, where the public can get up close
and personal with aviation and how the airport works. It was suggested that this be
directed towards children as well as adults in an attempt to catch the attention of all
ages. While Mr. Loy is in favor of adding these components, it was decided there is not
adequate time in order to produce a quality event that would include all of the proposed
ideas.
'I he board went over the details of this kind of event. Mr. Albright recommended doing
a smaller "trial run" this year to test the format, and showed a document Ifom lire
AOPA website that describes, in detail, how to organize an event such as this. It was
decided to do an "aviation day/fly-in" later this year on a date to be determined.
Mr. Loy mentioned that there was a contact in place ahead), for a performer for the
2012 air festival and the question was asked whether or not we could ask the contracted
performer to come in 2013 instead. This was thought to be a possibility.
A subcommittee will be discussed at the next airport board meeting. The board
motioned to have "aviation day" in 2012 and begin planning the 2013 Air Festival. Mr.
I letzel moved and Mr. Albright seconded the motion. The motion passed by unanimous
vote.
II. NON AGENDA ITEMS
A. Discovery Play House Event- Mr. Loy brought up an event that lire Discovery Play
House would like to hold for children. They would like to bring out trucks and vehicles
of all types so that children can "touch, feel, crawl" through and learn what the inside
of different types of vehicles look like. They have expressed that they would like to
hold this event at the airport so Mr. Loy mentioned trying to tic in aviation by having
an air plane there for children to climb through as well. The board liked this idea and it
will be further discussed at file nest airport board meeting.
This meeting was adjourned at 1:00pm
