AIRPORT BOARD MEETING
Tuesday, July 7, 1992
Those present:
Board Members: Staff:
Jerry McClanahan, Chairman Mark Seesing
Allan Maki Kevin McMeel
J. Fred Waltz Gayle Conrad
Dan Overbey
The meeting was called to order at 4:10 p.m, by Chairman
McClanahan. Allan Maki made a motion, seconded by J. Fred Waltz,
that the minutes of the May 18 and June 9 meetings be approved as
mailed. The Board unanimously approved.
Mark Seesing distributed to the Board a Memorandum regarding
the AIP Entitlement Funds, explaining that certain monies were
available to be spent, and if the monies were not allocated for
specific projects, it could be lost. The Board reviewed the Memo
(attached) and discussed the various projects and equipment that
could be purchased with this money. After much discussion, Allan
Maki made a motion, seconded by J. Fred Waltz, that the $275,000
available in the 04 Grant be dedicated to signage, painting and the
entrance road, and that the entrance road project be reevaluated as
to design and functional utility. The Board unanimously approved.
There was also discussion regarding the $184,789 of entitle-
ment funds available; however, no action was taken. The Board
requested a clarification on the time frame in which this money has
to be allocated before they make a recommendation as to how to
spend the money. Mark Seesing was instructed to obtain this
information. If the money is to be allocated by October 1, 1992,
the Board requested that a special meeting be called before the
next monthly meeting to make a recommendation. Staff was
instructed to compile a list of projects and/or equipment that this
money could be allocated to for review and recommendation at the
special meeting.
Mark stated that the terminal renovation project is underway
with an expected completion date of February, 1993.
J. Fred Waltz made a motion, seconded by Dan Overbey, that
nominations for officers of the Airport Board for 1992-1993 be as
follows: Jerry McClanahan, Chairman; Allan Maki, Vice -Chairman;
Bill Walker, Secretary. The motion was approved by acclamation.
Mark stated to the Board that the Fly Cape Aviation Days 92
did make a small profit. This money will be put into a fund for
community development projects such as an air show and an open
house for the new terminal building. Next year's air show is
scheduled for July 23-25, and is being coordinated with the
`, Bicentennial Committee.

Regarding the essential air service situation, Phil Trenary of
Lone Star Airlines suggested to Mark that a group of businessmen
put together a proposal of what type of service they would like to
have in Cape Girardeau and submit it to him for review and possible
action.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 5:40
p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
