John T. Seesing Mark J. Seesing
Steve Nesler Gayle Conrad

The meeting was called to order at 4:10 p.m. by Chairman
McClanahan. Jim Bowman made a motion, seconded by John Seesing,
that the minutes of the February 4 meeting be approved as mailed.
The Board unanimously approved.
Doug Leslie updated the Board on the terminal building
projects. The asbestos project is approximately one-half complete.
Additional material was found above the wall curtains which will
have to be removed. The contract for remodeling of the terminal
building was awarded to Sides Construction, and the contract is
being reviewed by FAA. The only change that was made from the
proposal was that the exterior of the building be ceramic tile
instead of granite; there was an approximate $25,000 difference
between the two. Two alternates that were accepted were the
r.. masonry screen wall and the alternate power supply. After
discussion on various options in the bid, including kitchen
equipment, Jerry McClanahan requested that the staff clarify the
difference between all bids, especially relating to the exterior
material. Allan Maki inquired as to the type of fuel and size of
the generator. Steve Nesler offered any assistance he could
provide with the restaurant equipment. Doug Leslie indicated he
would send the bid tabs and information on the alternate power
supply to the Board for their review.
Mark Seesing updated the Board on the 1992 air show. The MP
unit will not be able to supply attendants for parking, and
volunteers are needed for that job. Regarding the Blue Angels,
there will be a barbecue on Friday, May 8, sponsored by the Pilot's
Club, and there will be a VIP reception at the Drury Lodge on the
following Saturday which will include a small presentation
ceremony. Rob Schantz is operating the balloon show, and he will
be coming in on the Monday before the show to begin preparations.
He will also supply balloon rides most of the week.
Schnucks, J C Penney, and the Chamber of Commerce will be
remote ticket sale sites. Advance tickets will be $3.00 to $4.00,
tickets at the door will be $5.00, and children under five will be
free. The show box has been changed so as not to include the
interstate. So far Lipps, Cape Town RV, and Golden Cat are willing
to evacuate their building for the show. Mark is working with ABC,
ABF and several close residents to get their cooperation. M&w is
- 2 -
supplying a 5,000' x 40' piece of plastic for an artificial flight
line, the Jaycees and Pilot's Club are working on concessions, and
news releases should start the week of March 16. The next Air Show
Committee Meeting is March 25.
Mark updated the Board on the EAS situation. He and Doug
Leslie met with the DOT on February 12 to discuss the situation.
They expressed their concerns regarding TWA's bankruptcy and the
need for a second hub, preferably to Memphis. The DOT said they
would look into it, but their primary concern is to get the airline
off subsidy within three years. We believe we can get off subsidy
within the three year period if there is a second hub. The DOT
will assemble a packet of information regarding their meeting with
TWE and Lone Star. They will then send it to the City for its
review and recommendation.
Alan Maki made a motion, seconded by Jim Bowman that the Board
proceed to executive session to discuss leasing matters. The Board
unanimously approved and adjourned to executive session at 5:20
p.m.
After the Executive Session, Jerry McClanahan brought it to
the attention of the Board that Truman Cole and John Seesing's
terms on the Airport Board will expire in April. He indicated if
they were interested in continuing as a member of the Board, they
.- must reapply at City Hall.
p.m.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:10
Respectfully submitted,
Gayle Conrad
