Mark Seesing updated the Board on the 1992 air show. The next
Air Show Committee Meeting is scheduled for February 5 at 4:00 p.m.
at the airport. The Peterson Krier All American Air Show team has
been scheduled and will have a Super Chipmunk, a Great Lakes
Special, and a Clipped wing Cub. In addition, Kodak is considering
sponsoring the balloon team for the show. Rob Schantz of Sky Signs
Unlimited will be in Cape on March 3 to discuss how the program is
put on. There will be 25 balloons that will run five races. The
Pilots Club has donated $5,000 to the air show, and the City has
agreed to pick up the rest of the Blue Angel expenses. However,
corporate sponsors are still being sought.
Regarding the terminal renovation, the wage determination has
been received. FAA indicated that the City should contact them
after the bids are received, and they will then determine the wage.
The bid opening is scheduled for February 12 at 3:00 p.m. at City
Hall, and bids will go to Council for approval on February 20. The
asbestos removal project was approved by Council on February 3 and
work should begin by February 17. The project should take
approximately 28 days.
Mark updated the Board on the EAS program. Proposals were
received by TWE and Lone Star, with Lone Star being the higher
proposal. Mark and Doug Leslie will be attending an EAS seminar in
Washington DC on February 13, which is being presented by DOT and
AAAE. On February 14 they will then meet with Linda Prette of the
DOT to discuss what guidelines it uses in determining the EAS
carrier. Bill Walker suggested to Mark that he work up a report
listing the scheduled flight times and actual flight times of all
TWE flights within the past several months.

proceed to Executive Session to discuss lease situations. The
Board unanimously approved.

After the Executive Session, Bill Walker stated to the Board
that the Air Transportation Committee of the Chamber of Commerce
had been dismantled. However, a proposal has been made that a task
force be formed that would work specifically to develop business at
the airport. Bob Hendrix has spoken with Ron Fischer about this.
The Chamber has agreed to the task force, but it needs funding.
Mr. Fischer has indicated that the Airport Board should make some
type of recommendation as to how to proceed. After discussion, Jim
Bowman moved, seconded by Steve Nesler that the Board recommend
that the City support the Chamber of Commerce airport development
task force and assist with funding. In addition, all Airport Board
members should be ex officio members of this task force. The Board
unanimously approved.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 5:20
p.m.
Res ectfully submitted,
Gayle Conrad
