McMeel John T. Seesing Mark J. Seesing Bill Walker Gayle Conrad Guests: Jay Eastlick The meeting was called to order at 4:10 p.m. by Chairman McClanahan. Jim Bowman moved, seconded by Bill Walker, that the minutes of the December 3 meeting be approved as mailed. The Board unanimously approved. Mark Seesing updated the Board on the EAS situation. The DOT extended the time frame for submittal of proposals to February 1. As far as he knew, Lone Star and TWE are the only two submitting proposals. DOT will send the proposals to the City for its review and comment. Regarding the Blue Angels air show, there will be a meeting of the Air Show Committee on January 15 at 4:00 p.m. at the airport. The Blue Angels have waived the requirement for arresting gear. The board discussed options for setting up vending areas and cover for the people because the terminal building will be unavailable at the time due to renovation. Currently no static displays, fly overs, etc. have been scheduled. However, Mark has contacted the Air National Guard about having units on display. The farmers in the area have indicated that they are willing to cooperate in any way necessary. It was discovered during the terminal building renovation walk through that the wrong wage determination had been sent by the FAA. As soon as the correct determination comes down on the project, an addendum to the bid specs will be mailed out. All tenants will be put in temporary office trailers in the parking lot during the renovation. The asbestos management contract was approved by the City Council on January 6. Prebid walk through is January 22, bid opening is January 30, Council approval is February 3, and the project should be started on February 15. Bill Walker explained to the Board that the Air Transportation Committee had completed its marketing document on the airport. He presented to the Board two graphs - one indicated trends and forecasts for boardings at the airport starting in 1984, and the other showed actual boardings from 1987 to 1991 in relation to the trends. The trends indicate that with two carriers and two r„ destinations, boardings were showing an increase. - 2 - Regarding the static display, Mark indicated he is waiting on an exact figure from the transport company. The cost depends on what type of aircraft the City acquires. He felt that local organizations, such as the VFW and American Legion, should get involved in getting the ground work done for the display. The Airport Board then adjourned to executive session at 4:55 p.m. to discuss a lease situation. Respectfully submitted, 'z4 &mac Gayle Conrad r<
