HomeMy WebLinkAboutAirport.Minutes.07-27-1990SPECIAL AIRPORT BOARD MEETING Friday, July 27, 1990 at the Airport Minutes Those present: Board Members: Staff: Paul Brinkopf, Vice-Chmn. Doug Leslie J. T. Seesing Mark Seesing Jim Bowman, Secy. Guests: Tom Holshouser: Holshouser & Assoc_ Harold Belzer: Crawford, Murphy & Tilley, Inc. The meeting was called to order at 9:08 AM by Vice -Chairman Paul Brinkopf. 1. It was pointed out by J. T. Seesing that the minutes of the July 11, 1990 Board meeting incorrectly stated that "a driveway easement was requested so that the individuals farming airport land could have access". The easement is actually so that people farming the Cohen property could have access. 2. Tom Holshouser presented a revised version of his plans for renovating the existing terminal building. A copy of the revised version is attached to these minutes and made a part of same. Major features of the revised version are: a. The kitchen is relocated to the front of the building to provide the opportunity for dining room patrons to observe the boarding and de -boarding of planes. b. The dining room would seat 60 including 22 in a special section that could be closed off by a movable partition to provide a private dining room when such is desirable. C. A new, larger gift shop with its own storage area. d. An office services area for the business traveler with such equipment as phones, fax machine, copiers, and word processor. e. A large conference room which could also be used for press conferences. I. An area for local manufacturers to display their products. g. A new exterior covering for the entire terminal building which would make it attractive and completely change its appearance. h. Seismic design improvements. i. All the featurs described in the July 11, 1990 minutes would also be included. The estimated cost of the revised version is $991,699. This compares to $1,353,550 to build a new terminal building north of the tower. Page 2. Minutes -July 27, 1990 Special Meeting `-The City's share of the cost of a new building would be approximately $120,000 more than the City's share of renovating the old building. This might be very attractive if a satisfactory tenant or group of tenants could be found for the old building. Since a quorum was not present, no action could be taken on acceptance of the FAA Grant offer. Action on that subject will be discussed at the regular board meeting on August 1, 1990. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 10:50 AM. MJS/ajg 09 Respectfully submitted, Jim Bowman, Secretary
