APPEARANCES
Mr. Steve LeGrand, Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 11205 appearing
regarding the no soliciting ordinance in the City. He appeared on behalf of the Knights
fundraising efforts for the mentally handicapped in the community. The KC's are holding their
annual Tootsie Roll Drive October 12-14, 2007. The KC's had previously asked the Council for
permission to stand on the streets to sell Tootsie Rolls to generate revenue for this cause, but that is
now prohibited by the City ordinance. Mr. LeGrand asked the Council to consider an exception to
this ordinance to allow them to sell on specific four-way stop street corners, which would not
include signalized intersections. Mayor Knudtson responded that other organizations have come
forth with this same request, and the City has consistently decided not to grant an exception. It is
very difficult to know where to draw the line. Mrs. Tracy suggested looking at alternatives to allow
collections on certain days of the year. Mr. LeGrand simply asked for the Council's consideration
of his request.
