has advi�ed the City Council t,kiat rent-�ubsic3y pr�c�rama are availablg
�rhereby un3ar Federal t�unding 3.ndividual privateiy awned houses can
be renovatQd anci b� madA available to ne�c�y �ersons at rents they
are able to pay, and the Hosuing X�uthority has this week raport�d
that it believes such program� would be ?aeneficial to the �ity o�'
Cape Girarc�eau, �nd
xtI3�RF�.� , t�e Board of Realtors of Cape Girarc3eau !�as this
week also advised th� City Council that it heliEv�� r�nt-subsidy
proc�rams would �e ben�ficial to the City of CA�ae Girardeau, and
WHEREAS, rent 3ub�idy proqrams are in great contrast with
prior pro}�osals for larg�: multiple-unit public housing projects,
which the Ci�iz�ns hav� rejected in the past, and
r�THi:REAS , the �ity Council believ�s that rent-subsidy program�
may pr�sent a solution to the need far additional low-rent housing
which would be acceptable to the Citizen� of th� City o� Cape

taken affice since this matt�r was last pre�ented and the programs
availablQ are constantly chang3ng in scope and detail,

1. The City Council herehy requegts and directs the
Fiou�ing P�uthority to imm�cliately continue and intensi�'y its effort�
to secure ali in�armation concerning availabie s�nt--ssubsidy progra�ns,
to reguest 3t�te and �ed�ral governmen�al offics#.als to ecu� �o
the City o� C+ape Qir�rd�au to explain eueh pzQgrau�as, to caopera�.e
