A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE 504 TRANSITION PLAN; PROVIDING THE
ELDERLY AND HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBILITY OF THE CAPE GIRARDEAU
PUBLIC TRANSIT SYSTEM, IN THE CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI
WHEREAS, the City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, as an eligible
recipient of Federal funds, is currently proposing to lease the
necessary equipment (rolling stock) for a municipally operated
public transit system; and
WHEREAS, a document has been drawn up as a plan to provide
equitable access for handicapped persons to the proposed public
transit system as required by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation
Act of 1973; and
WHEREAS, this document shall be known as the 504 Transition
Plan: Elderly and Handicapped Accessibility in the City of Cape
Girardeau Transit System (June 1981) , of which a copy is attached;
and
WHEREAS, the required public hearing was held on the 504
Transition Plan on June 17, 1981, and a copy of the transcript of
this hearing will be forwarded to the appropriate State and
Federal agencies; and
WHEREAS, the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) endorsed the
504 Transition Plan before the Public hearinq was held on June
17, 1981;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
l. That the City endorses the 504 Transition Plan as
written as a plan to provide equitable access for handicapped
persons to a public transit system as required by Section 504 of
the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
