BILL NO. 84-13 RESOLUTION N0. � ,
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT
APPLICATION FOR FUNDING THROUGH THE MISSOURI
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974,
as amended, states as its primary objective, "the development of
viable urban communities, by providing decent housing and suitable
living environment and expanding economic opportunities, princi-
pally for persons of low and moderate income; " and
WHEREAS, this program offers to cities the possibility of
funding assistance in accomplishing its stated primary objective;
and
WHEREAS, the Missouri Division of Community and Economic
Development is designated to administer this federal program
within the State of Missouri; and
WHEREAS, the City has spent a great deal of time, effort and
money over the past year in determining and documenting the need
for funding under this program; and
WHEREAS, the City has determined an area of need within the
community that can be successfully addressed with funding through
the Community Development Block Grant Program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1 . The City desires to participate in the Missouri
Community Development Block Grant Program.
SECTION 2 . The funding made available under this program
will implement plans and activities for the improvement of the
City.
SECTION 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to prepare
and submit documents which are necessary in applying for funding
and establish an administrative organization to implement activities
pursuant to the aforementioned act.
