A RFSOLUTION AUTE�ORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR ENGINEERING
SERVICES WITH WHITWORTH COMPANY FOR PERCY
STREET
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1 . The City Manager on k�ehalf of the City of Cape
Girardeau, Missouri , is hereby authorized to enter into a Contract
for Engineering Services with Whitworth Company for Percy Street .
A copy of said Contract is attached to this Resolution and made a
part hereof .

CONTRACT FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES -- PERCY STREET PROJECT
This A reement, made and entered into this �� day
of ' , 1987 , by and between the City of Cape
Girarde u, Missouri , hereinafter referred to as "Owner" , and
Whitworth Company, hereinafter referred to as "Engineer" .
The parties hereto do on the day and year above written agree
as follows :
1 . Tr�e City of Cape Girardeau , Missouri , is desirous of
performing certain street improvements on Percy Street in the City
of Cape Girardeau , Missouri , and in order to perform said
improvement requires the services of a professional engineer .
2 , Whitworth Company is a firm licensed to do business in
the State of Missouri and is prepared to perform the needed
engineering services to the City of Cape Girardeau for this street
improvement project .
3 . The parties agree that Engineer will provide the services �
set forth in Exhibit A which is attached hereto and made a part
hereof by reference and Owner will provide payment for said
services in accordance with the rates set forth in the
aforementioned Exhibit A. �
4 . It is further agreed between the parties that the
engineering services to be provided by Engineer will be performed
in two phases , namely, the "Design and Contract Documents Phase"
and the "Construction Observation and Testing Phase" as set out in
Exhibit A and the parties agree that the amount and method of
payments shall be as set forth under the heading of "Cost
Proposal " with respect to each of these two phases .
In consideration of the mutual covenants herein made and the
promise of payment by the Owner to the Engineer , the parties
hereto set their hand the day and year first above written .

EXHIBIT "A"
ENGINEERING SERVICES PROPOSAL - PERCY STREET
DESIGN AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS PHASE
SCOPE OF WORK
Preliminary determination of design parameters with city officials
Determine grades and study drainage data and need for additional inlets
Consult with city and f1o. highway department on design of intersection at
I-55 outer road intersection.
Draw design features on existing plotted plan and cross section sheets
and calculate quantities.
Furnish a cover sheet and other detail sheet if necessary to define the
work.
Utilize standard city detail sheets for pavement and drainage structures.
Supply proposal and advertisement data for use with standard city specifi-
cations
COST PROPOSAL
Hourly rates for anticipated jobs
Project Engineer - design, administration,and coordination
$ 44.OQ per hr.
Technician - drafting �25.00 per hr.
Trips - $80.00 per round trip( includes time and mileage )
Maximum cost should not exceed $ 5,500.00

CONSTRUCTION OBSERVATION AND TESTING - PERCY STREET
SCOPE OF WORK
Provide construction staking for line and grade.
Provide periodic inspection and field compaction testing services during
grading operations and more frequent during critical pavement operations.
Make concrete test cylinders.
Review cotractors pay request and recon�nend action to city engineer.
COST PROPOSAL
Hourly rates for anticipated jobs
Engineer - project observation and surveying or testing $40.00 per hr.
Technician - surveying or field testing $25.00 per hr.
Nuclear Density Machine for subgrade field tests - $1Q.00 per hour with
a maximum daily charge of $�0.00
Lab Tests- Standard Moisture Density $125.00 per each soil type.
Survey Crew - $85.00 per hr. plus staking materials at cost.
Trips - 0-3 hrs, of field time $80.00 per round trip
4-8 hrs. of field time $40.00 per round trip '
Total construction cost will depend on the extent of the time of construction
and the time of year when the project is constructed
