A RESOLUTION DECLARING IT NECESSARY TO II�9PROVE THAT
PART OF MELROSE AVENUF_ FROM MARGARET TO RANDOL
AVENUE FOR A DISTANCE OF 255 FEET, IN THE CITY OF CAPE
GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI
E3E IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU,
�1�1ISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
That the Council of the City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, deems and declares that a
public necessity exists for the improvement of Melrose Avenue from Margaret Street to
Randol Avenue for a distance of 2S5 feet, by grading to the established grade and
constructing thereof a Portland Cernent Concrete Pavement, 6 inches thick and 30 feet in
width between the back of 6 inch integral Portland Cement Concrete c�rbs and gutters,
excpet at the various intersection streets, where the pavement shall be constructed as
shown on the plans, together with necessary pipe and inlets for the rernoval of storm water,
all as shown on the plans for said improvernent.
That said improvement of Melrose Avenue shall be done in accordance with the plans
and specifications and estimate of cost for said irnprovement prepared by the City
Engineer, filed with the City Clerk, approved and adopted by the City Council, and now on
file in the office of the City Clerk, and in accordance with Chapter 88, Revised Statutes of
(vlissouri, and all ordinances which may be enacted governing the construction of this
particular irnprovement.
That the proposed work shall be done by contract, as provided by law and ordinance
and upon completion of the project, the cost of the proposed work, not to exceed $56.13
per front foot shall be charged to the abutting property for the issuance of special tax bills
and only $56.13 per front foot shall be charged against the abutting property, all in
accordance with Chapter 88, RSN10 and such ordinances as may be hereafter enacted to
carry out said work.
That the City Clerk is hereby instructed to publish this Resolution in seven (7)
consecutive issues of the Cape Girardeau Southeast Missourian, a daily newspaper printed
and published in the City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Anyone desiring to do so may
appear before the City Council at 7:30 P.M. Monday, September 21, 1987, and be heard on
the question of the necessity of the work sought to be done.
