A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY
COMMISSION TO PLACE THE E-9-1-1 FUNDING ISSUE ON
THE NOVEMBER, 1991 BALLOT
[�HEREAS, 9-1-1 is an emergency telephone service that
simplifies the process of calling for help in emergency
situations ; and
WHEREAS , 9-1-1 calls are received by local public safety
dispatchers who are trained in emergency dispatch procedures ; and
WHEREAS , with an enhanced 9-1-1 system, the caller ' s telephone
number and address are automatically displayed on a screen to
allow for quick, efficient dispatch of emergency assistance, even
if the caller cannot say a word; and
WHEREAS, with a County-wide enhanced 9-1-1 system, any
resident within Cape Girardeau County will be able to dial 9-1-1
in an emergency and their call will automatically be routed to the
proper public safety agency for immediate response .
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI , AS FOLLOWS :
That the City Council of the City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri ,
endorses the enhanced 9-1-1 concept, and requests the Cape
Girardeau County Commission to place the E-9-1-1 funding issue on
the November , 1991 ballot .
