RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING OCTOBER 17 , 1990 , AS MISSOURI DAY
WHEREAS, the Forty-Eighth General Assembly in 1915 established
the third Wednesday of October each year as "Missouri Day" ; and
WHEREAS, this special day was set apart to commemorate
Missouri ' s history and the achievements of the sons and daughters
of Missouri in commerce, literature, statesmanship, science and
art , and in other areas of endeavor ; and
WHEREAS, this day also is a time to honor the products of
Missouri ' s mines, fields and forests ; and
WHEREAS , Missouri Day is a time for the people of the State of
Missouri , and the educational , commercial, political, civic,
religious and fraternal organizations of the state to reflect upon
the things that make Missouri great :
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU
that October 17 , 1990, shall be celebrated as
MISSOURI DAY
in Cape Girardeau, and all citizens are urged to display their
pride at living in and being a part of this great state.
