FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE UPPER CAPE LA CROIX SEWER SYSTEM, PHASE IV, SECTION I PROJECT BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: ARTICLE 1. The City Manager, for and on behalf of the City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, is hereby authorized to execute an Agreement with Emery Sapp and Sons, Inc. for construction of the Upper Cape LaCroix Sewer System, Phase IV, Section I Project. A�commended Awerd CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAII, MISSOIIRI Office of the City Manaqer Council Letter No. Agenda June 15, 1992 The Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri Dear Mayor and Council Members: Subject: Authorization of Contract for the IIpper Cape La Croix Sewer System, Section I On May 14, 1992, sealed bids were received for the construction of the Upper Cape La Croix Sewer System, Phase IV - Section I �project. The City received three (3) bids on this project, ranginq from a high bid of $969,459. 00 to the low bid of $594, 451. 50. The low bid was submitted by Emery Sapp and Sons, Inc. , of Columbia Missouri, and is below the Engineer's Estimate of cost. � � Black & Veatch, Consulting Engineers for the City of Cape Girardeau on this project, provide the following recommendation: " . . .Emery Sapp and Sons, Inc. has contracted with the City on a previous sewer construction project, and their work was complete and satisfactory. There were no major problems with the project itself or working with the Contractor. In addition, Emery Sapp and Sons, Inc. has completed many other projects designed by Black & Veatch, and it is our opinion that this contractor has the capability and necessary resources to complete the City's project in accordance with all contract requirements. Therefore, Black & Veatch recommends that the City of Cape Girardeau award a contract to Emery Sapp and Sons, Inc. in the amount of $549,451. 50 for completion of the Upper Cape La Croix Sewer System, Phase IV - Section I project. " A resolution authorizing a Contract with Emery Sapp & Sons is presented for Council consideration and action. Award of this contract will be subject to Missouri Department of Natural Resources concurrence. Attached is the tabulation of bids which includes the Engineer's Estimate. Respectfully submitted, J.
