AN ORDINANCE RE�UIRING ALL VEHICLES TO PULL TO THE CURB AND
STOP AT THE SOUND OF THE GONG OR ALARM OF FIRE TRIICK� A�BII-
LANCES OR POLICE PATRO� AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR ITS
VIOLATION AND REPEALING�`: COA�ISSION FORI� ORDINANCE N0. 52g.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COIINCIL OF THE CITY OF CAPE GIRARDEAU? MIS-
SOURI AS FOLLOWS:
SECTIORT 1. It shall be the duty of ever•y person driving or op-
erating every motor vehicle, carriage or vehicle or vehicle of any kind
upon the approach of a city fire truck, ambulance or city police patrol
when any of said last-mentioned vehicles is or are upon the streets of
the Cit� in the performance of its or their duty and is or are sounding
the alarm, ringing the bell or sounding the siren, to immediately bring
the vehicle, carriage or motor vehicle of such person to the curb if
possible and immedi.ately come to a stop until such city fire truck,
ambulance or city police patrol has passed by.
SECTION 2. It is hereby made a misdemeanor to equip any automobile
or other vehicle witha siren, gong, bell or similar ��� warning de-
vice tc�. those used by the city fire department, ambu.lance, or police pa-
tro1, PROVIDED,, that this section shall not cover city-owned fire or po-
lice ���f��R vehieles �x or pri�rately owned vehicles for which a permit
to instaZl such siren, gong or bell shall have been issued by the City
Council.
' �5�� 3., An,y person who shall violate any of the provisions of
"'���"'��'�i�nce sha�l be d.eemed' �uilty bf a misd`emeanor and upon convietion
shall be punished by a fine of not less than One (�1.00) Dollar nor more
tY�an One Hundred (�100.00) Do].lars.
SECTION 1�. Commission Form Ordinance No. 52g and. all Ordinal_ces and
parts of Ordinances in conflict v�ith the provisions hereof are hereby re-
pealed.
SECTION 5• This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after its passage.
